I don’t do this often, but every once in a while I might start a book series from somewhere in the middle of it. In the case of this book, I got a free review copy in return for my review. I absolutely loved Istrae and Rime getting to know each other and I missed him greatly the second half of the book, when Istrae’s destiny brought her to the Temple. But in Rime’s absence Istrae went through several character developing moments. The ending!!!! My review: Diana Quenton comes off as spoiled, selfish and privileged right from the first pages of the book. She is all of those things and more – she is not your average heroine that’s for sure – and somehow I still started to like her by the end of the story, however unlikely that might seem. Her personality quirks and the way she reacts to her unfortunate situation is what makes the story so great, after all. This is not your standard mystery book where two experienced investigators are finding out the truth. Wow! I can’t believe it’s storming. No worries… That’s just Alabama weather. You never know what you’re going to get. It can be 90 degrees, hot, and humid. Then, out of nowhere, BAM! It’s storming. That’s ok though. Strangely, that’s the furthest thing from my mind as I sit on my front porch starring at the black sky, hearing the roar of the thunder, and witnessing the blind flashes of lightening. The only thing I can do is reminisce and think about you. The feeling I have at this exact moment makes me feel and do something strange. Something I have never done before…write.Forgive me. Let me explain. I am not a writer and never thought I would be; but I was always told – even as a kid – that I could tell a good story. It just so happens that I have a good one to tell. Don’t worry!
